Good Morning TMB!!!

Guess who??  LOL  Yup, it's me, reporting in from VA - FINALLY.  I've been promising an update for a long long time and I'm finally here to do it.  Well, actually, this is just a short post to let you all know I'm writing a long one on the board updating y'all on my summer.  It's been busy, fun, hectic and now distressing.

Need prayers from all our prayer warriors for my son Justin (my 16 year old).  He is going to do NJROTC this coming school year.  Tuesday he had his school physical for it.  Because of the way he answered some of the questions, the nurse practitioner requested an EKG.  They ran it FIVE times because they kept getting a "tremor" showing up on his left side.  Two different nurses ran the test.  They changed the sticky things three times for fresh ones.  They moved them around each time - and it kept coming back with problems.  So....we did a chest x-ray of his heart to see if it was enlarged, etc.  Wednesday morning when we got to the lab on base for them to draw the blood work the NP requested, I got a call from the Nurse Manager, so I walked over to her office.  Seems the x-ray came back with abnormalities.  Apparently his heart looked okay, but there was other stuff that looked iffy.  Now he's going in on Monday morning for a CT.  They are checking for lymphadenopathy.  According to the nurse "it's bad" if it comes up positive.  You guys know me.  I googled it.  Read enough to scare myself completely and stopped reading.  Anyway, we got all the scheduled, and left to go get breakfast for Justin and got a call from the lab.  We had to go back so they could draw more blood as his "wasn't splitting correctly."  The tech said that apparently he used the smallest stuff they had and it cause some of the red blood cells to pop so it had messed up the test?  Am hoping he is telling me the truth on that one, but have my doubts. I've never heard of the needle/tubing causing something like that to happen.  After all they take babies blood all the time and have to use tiny things and it draws just fine.

Of course, I'm not saying any of this to Justin.  Just keeping it at bare facts for him.  He's stressed enough over it all.  And, this waiting is making us CRAZY and worried.  He's said to me a few times "Wouldn't it be awful if we find out I only have a short time to live?"  Not something a Mom wants to hear her child say.

Anyway, we could use your prayers thru the next few days as we wait for the next tests and results.  Thank goodness the military insurance is good.  Not sure how long it'll stay that way, but it's a blessing for us right now.

Will post separately about the rest of the summer.  Just wanted to get a prayer chain going and knew the train was the best place to start.  Thanks!!  Oh...for all of you on Facebook.  I'm not posting about it there as Justin is one of my "friends" and I don't want him to read how worried I am.  That would just stress him out further.  Ya know?

Love and prayers for all. Have a great day and
MAKE GOOD CHOICES!!

OMG Susan I'm so sorry to read this.  How scary for all of you.  Kudos to the Nurse Practitioner for picking up on it and following through.  Not sure about the blood "splitting" but it can clot of not drawn properly and needs to be re-drawn.  That part I wouldn't worry about.  Try to focus on the best possible outcome even though it's hard.

When Hailey was little they told me she might have uterine cancer, a brain tumor or precocioius puberty.  After 6 weeks of grueling tests and LONG waits for answers it turns out she just had some elevated hormone levels and was perfectly fine.  But let me tell you, the word "cancer" scared the crap out of me and that's all I could think about.  So what that said,  I feel your pain and know how scary this is.  I will keep all of you in my prayers.  Please post when you hear anything.  We're here for you.

Thanks Steph!!  Will keep you posted.  We are supposed to get results next Wednesday from the blood work and hopefully from the CT also.

Saying a BIG HUGE prayer for him...and for you too. Kaylee got very sick when she was about 11 and they ran every test imaginable on her. They were saying tons of scary words like cancer, heart condition, brain tumor, diabetes, and a host more. During the roughest time I finally had to give her over to G-d. My worrying wasn't going to get her better and it certainly wasn't helping. Giving her to Him gave me strength and comfort. The condition turned out to be something managable in her situation. I pray for peace for you, and healing from whatever this is for him.

Love you,
Tracey
